Further to the upgrade of Tampines Expressway and Central Expressway interchange, an additional flyover was proposed to further enhance traffic flow in the vicinity. This flyover will provide a direct route from Seletar West Link to Seletar Expressway towards Woodlands, facilitating stakeholders in Seletar Aerospace and Yishun residents.
Construction of the new, single lane flyover was carried out across live traffic, spanning over slip roads and main expressway carriageway. With public safety being the top priority, emphasis was placed on ensuring the integrity of falsework for the girder construction.
The entire project encompassed works such as the construction of two vehicular bridges, contiguous bored pile (CBP) wall, diversion of utilities, and road widening.
Four numbers of prestressed precast (PSPC) beams, ranging from 35 m to 38 m in length and 140 tonnes to 150 tonnes in weight, were launched in a single operation with full closure of expressway. This achievement was not possible without meticulous planning and work sequencing. Most importantly, this first-of-its-kind launching in Singapore has significantly shortened the overall construction time.
