Samwoh Sets New Benchmark for Worker Dormitory Standards at Kranji Way Headquarters
Singapore, 28 April 2023 – Samwoh Corporation (“Samwoh” or “the Company”), a home-grown engineering and construction company, has completed a new three-storey dormitory block at its Kranji Way headquarters, designed to enhance living conditions for its migrant workforce and strengthen operational resilience.
The new dormitory is among the first in Singapore to be purpose-built to meet the improved standards under the Foreign Employee Dormitories Act, which include a cap of 12 residents per room, en-suite toilet facilities, and enhanced ventilation.
Located within Samwoh Smart Hub, the dormitory features air-conditioned rooms with ceiling fans and free Wi-Fi, en-suite toilets, recreation facilities, and four dedicated isolation rooms. The building can also be physically divided into four zones to support segregation and continuity measures during public health emergencies.
By the end of 2023, the new facility is expected to house 480 of Samwoh’s foreign workers, supporting the Company’s commitment to caring for its employees while ensuring greater preparedness for future disruptions.
Mr Eric Soh, Chief Executive Officer of Samwoh, said, “The business continuity plan is important, so we have incorporated quite a lot of that here. We are not in the dormitory business, but we build what we need. The ultimate aim is really to take care of our workers.”
The dormitory forms part of Samwoh’s broader efforts to create a safe, sustainable and people-centric workplace at its headquarters, while contributing to the continued uplift of migrant workers’ welfare.
